You can’t separate baseball and politics; both are part of our public lives. The decision to move the All Star game was the right one. The Georgia voting act was a clear response to the Big Lie and is unacceptable to any American who values democracy. I don’t think Henry Aaron would want to be honored in the shadow of the revival of Jim Crow. If corporate power don’t have the courage to stand up and say, “No!” To something this egregious we are all the worse off. Baseball and issues of race are tied together forever. It is a good time for baseball to take the lead here.
Loved the writing style of Adam Rygg (Leading Off). I could picture the excitement on the child's face, and feel the bond of father and son. What a welcome change from the usual statistical article!! Brought back many memories for this baseball fan. Hope to see more from this writer!
