Great article, Bill. As a fan who grew up in the 50s, I too lament the death of the complete game. My hero, Phillies pitcher Robin Roberts, regularly finished what he started. Two points: pitching a complete game means a pitcher must learn ways to get batters out in different ways because their stuff is fading and the batter has seen them 2-3 times. A special skill. Secondly, back in the days of the complete game pitching staffs were usually made up of eight pitchers not the current 12+.
