While MLB’s playoff field was set on Saturday, the final day provided plenty of excitement as the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros went to the final game to decide the AL West title while the seeding among the National League Wild Card teams. When the Rangers lost 1-0 to the Mariners and the Astros defeated Arizona 8-1, the Astros clinched the division and the Diamondbacks fell to the bottom Wild Card seed in the National League.

First Annual IBWAA Content Creator Award Winners Announced

The IBWAA announced the winners of our first-ever Content Creator Awards in four categories during a live show yesterday evening.
2023 IBWAA General MLB Writer of the Year: Chris Clegg
2023 IBWAA Podcast/Video Host of the Year: Jeff Barnes & Jana Dunow
2023 IBWAA Prospects/Minors/College/Amateur Writer of the Year: Lindsay Crosby
2023 IBWAA Team Coverage Writer of the Year: Grant McAuley
Additionally, the IBWAA presented Mark Armour with the 2023 IBWAA Lifetime Achievement Award. He is the current president of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) and the creator of the SABR Bio Project and SABR Cards Project. He is the co-author of Intentional Balk: Baseball’s Thin Line Between Innovation and Cheating as well as six other books.
Armour was selected as the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient by IBWAA leadership. Nominations for the other four awards were open to all IBWAA members in August. The winners were elected in a poll open to the public. Congratulations to all five winners!
The IBWAA endeavors to serve the baseball writing community, representing more than 800 baseball content creators. We strive to increase visibility, networking, and opportunities for all of our members. Voting for full-season awards takes place in September of each year, with selections announced in November. The IBWAA holds a Hall of Fame election in December of each year, with results announced the following January. Additionally, IBWAA members participate in preseason predictions and All-Star Game elections.
